A funeral in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Alongside the Bible, the church has the Book of Mormon as its most important source. Its headquarters is in Salt Lake City in the United States. In Sweden the temple is in Stockholm, and other places have chapels.
What usually happens at the ceremony?
The funeral service is held in the church’s own chapel.
The person who has died is dressed in special burial clothing by members of the congregation.
What is useful to know?
- Members are always buried in the ground, never cremated.
- Candles are not used.
- The cross is not used on printed matter, vehicles or anything else.
