Here the ceremony is shaped around the life and wishes of the person who has died, with a choice of coffin, music, flowers and personal touches. It is a popular choice for creating a memorable and individual farewell.

Which is the least expensive coffin?

The least expensive options are Simple antique grey with wooden handles and Simple brown with wooden handles. Both cost 6 995 kr and are made of chipboard and MDF with a simple fabric lining.

Which is the most expensive coffin?

The most exclusive model is Björkö with carrying poles, a coffin in solid birch with lacquered sides. It costs 15 450 kr.

Is a fabric lining included in the coffins?

Yes, all our coffins have a fabric lining. Even the simplest models have a mattress, a pillow and a cover with a cotton top sheet. The more exclusive models also have clean detailing on the lid and the side panels.

Can you choose the colour of the coffin?

Yes. The Akvarell range can be had in white, black or blue (Azur). That makes it possible to choose a coffin that reflects the personality or the favourite colour of the person who has died.

Do I have to have a grave?

No, there are several options. You can choose a coffin grave, an urn grave or an ash grave if you want a marked place to visit. You can also choose a memorial grove, where the ashes are scattered anonymously. Which option suits best depends on your wishes, your tradition and your finances.

What grave options are there?
  • Coffin grave, a traditional grave with a coffin.
  • Urn grave, a place for one or more urns.
  • Ash grave, a marked place with a name plaque.
  • Memorial grove, an anonymous place where the ashes are scattered. All the options are looked after by the cemetery authority and are covered by the burial fee.
How much time is there to arrange a funeral?

Under Swedish law cremation or burial must take place within one month of the death. If there are particular reasons, for example waiting for relatives from abroad, an extension can be applied for.

What does a death notice cost?

A single column death notice in Smålandsposten costs around 4 500 kr. The price varies depending on the newspaper, the size and whether you want a picture or a symbol. We help you design and publish the notice.

Do you help with flowers?

Yes, we offer several floral arrangements through our online service. For example:

  • White floral garland with real candles, 1 200 kr
  • Bouquet of mixed tulips, 1 600 kr You will find more examples in our flower catalogue (PDF).
Can I arrange the flowers myself?

Yes, you can arrange the flowers through any florist. Many families still let us handle the practical side so that everything is coordinated smoothly ahead of the ceremony.

What are the advantages of a memorial grove?

A memorial grove is a cost free option where the ashes are scattered anonymously. It needs no upkeep from the family and gives a quiet place to visit. The drawback is that there is no personal grave with a name.

Can you have a funeral without a priest?

Yes, that is called a non-religious funeral. The ceremony is led by an officiant or by a relative. The content is entirely free and can include music, poems, speeches and personal touches.

How does a Muslim funeral work with you?

We have good contacts with the Muslim congregations and follow the traditions for a Muslim funeral, for example prompt burial, the washing and placing the deceased facing Mecca.

Is transport of the person who has died included?

Yes, transport is included in every package. It covers collection from the hospital or the home to a cold storage room, and onward transport to the ceremony venue or the crematorium.

How does a non-religious ceremony compare with a church one?

A church ceremony follows the order of the Church of Sweden, with a priest and hymns. A non-religious ceremony is entirely free to shape and can be held in a chapel, at home or in another venue. We help with the planning and with the officiant.

What happens if someone dies abroad?

We help with bringing them home. A certificate of death, a transport permit and customs documents are required. The cost depends on the country and the insurance. We have experience of international transport and work with the embassies.

Can you plan your own funeral in advance?

Yes, you can write down your wishes in advance: the coffin, the music, the grave and so on. We offer online planning so that your family have clear guidance when the time comes.

What does a simple memorial reception cost?

A simpler reception with coffee can cost from around 3 000 kr depending on the venue and the catering. We offer different options, from simple coffee to full catering.

What is the advantage of an urn burial compared with a coffin burial?

An urn burial gives more flexibility in time and place. It needs less grave space and can cost less. A coffin burial is often felt to be more traditional and gives a clearly defined ceremony.

Do you help with the legal side after a death?

Yes, we can assist with the estate inventory, the distribution of the estate and advice. We have our own legal advisers in-house and can also help with wills and lasting powers of attorney.

How does cremation work?

In a cremation the body is burned in a dedicated facility. The ashes are placed in an urn which is interred in an urn grave, an ash grave or a memorial grove. Cremation is the most common choice in Sweden today.

How long does the whole funeral process take?

From the death to the burial it usually takes 2 to 4 weeks. It depends on the availability of the venue, the priest or officiant, the transport, and whether relatives have to travel a long way.

What does a personal coffin cost, for example a coloured one?

A coloured coffin, such as Azur, the blue coffin, costs 9 750 kr. The Akvarell range can be ordered in different colours, for example white or black, for around 9 950 kr.

Is online advertising included in the packages?

Yes, we can publish death notices both in the newspaper and online. Online notices are a way of reaching family and friends quickly. The cost varies depending on the medium.

How do coffin flower arrangements work?
