The humanist outlook on life is based on human rights applying to all human beings. There is a wish to combine compassion with common sense in order to create a better society. Ethics and culture is important within humanism.

The non-religious funeral is arranged entirely based upon the wishes of the family or of the deceased.  The officiant forms a sense of the deceased by talking to relatives in order to be able to hold a memorial address. Choice of music in an important part of the ceremony which should be held in a location suitable for non-confessional funerals.
