A funeral in the Jehovah’s Witness tradition
We arrange funerals for Jehovah’s Witnesses in Växjö and Småland and know how the order of service usually runs. You do not need to explain the tradition to us.
What usually happens at the ceremony?
It is often held in the congregation’s own hall, the Kingdom Hall, and is led by someone from the congregation. The ceremony is usually short and straightforward, with a talk and sometimes singing.
The family decide the content together with the congregation. It is not for us to direct.
What is useful to know in practical terms?
The coffin is not always present at the ceremony. Many choose cremation or burial first and hold the memorial reception separately.
